My home town Ueno
I live near Ueno. From my house to Ueno, it only takes 5 minutes by train. I always visit Ueno when I go back to Japan.
Ueno is a popular tourist area that attracts travelers from Japan and overseas. The city has excellent transportation access, and there are various sightseeing spots where you can enjoy Japanese culture.
Ueno Zoo is the oldest zoo in Japan and is a popular sightseeing spot for people from all over the country. A monorail runs through the wide park so you can easily enjoy the entire day there. The most popular attraction is the giant pandas donated from China.
2. Ueno Ameyoko
After the war, candy was a luxury item, and they could be found in this area because it flourished as a black market. It became known as Ame City. Now there are more than 400 stores all linked together. It gets especially crowded at the end of the year when people do their shopping for the New Year's meal there. The scenery of the assertive shopkeepers and the haggling customers is a famous sight.
Candy is called "Ame" in Japanese.
3. Ueno Park
Ueno sits in the center of Tokyo's traffic network, so it's a place where many people come and go. Because of that fact, the first and now-oldest park in Japan was created there. In that 500,000 square meter space, there are natural features like a large lake and a forest and also places where you can enjoy art like an art gallery and a museum. Inside the park, there is a Starbucks so you can take a walk around the park with coffee in one hand. When the cherry blossoms bloom, the park is full of people day and night.

I usually go to Japan once a year but I always go back to Tokyo so I've never been to Ueno. My sister told me that Ueno Zoo is one of the most popular Zoo's in Japan! We even talked about going there this year when I decide to go back to Japan for a visit. Thank you for the great information!
